Global Studies and Languages

icon of the world globe

In our era of global challenges, we know that it’s never been more critical to apply our collective knowledge for the public good. From ecological sustainability and food security to public health and conflict resolution — many of the greatest challenges confronting our world recognize no borders. The solutions will require cross-cultural communication and a rich appreciation of the complexities of the emerging world.

Bringing together nearly 100 faculty members with wide-ranging expertise, the School of Global Studies and Languages is a new home for interdisciplinary scholarship, multilingual perspectives, and cross-cultural dialogues at the UO. Offering exceptional academic and professional development that prepares students to thrive in a globalized workforce, it’s also a place where world-class researchers address timely issues.

Boasting a long tradition of international research and outreach, the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ is a leader in global education. Our alumni can be found working in diplomatic service, intergovernmental organizations, and multinational businesses worldwide. We also excel at language education, among North American universities for producing graduates with degrees in five different languages.
